golf 300x200The series of Enterprise Challenges in aid of The Peter Jones Foundation started with a ‘bang’ yesterday at the Inaugural Enterprise Golf Challenge, held in the beautiful grounds of Hampton Court Palace.

The Enterprise Golf Challenge saw 18 teams compete for a team and individual stableford competition and the fun began with a shot-gun start. Peter Fleming, former US Open and Wimbledon Doubles Champion, was the Enterprise Golf
Challenge winner with a spectacular 40 Stableford points and was awarded the coveted crystal “Enterprise Cup” and a tailor-made Augusta style green jacket courtesy of A Suit That Fits.

The Peter Jones Foundation team, which included Peter Jones, John Feaver, Peter Fleming and Jamie Singer took the prize for the team Stableford with an impressive 93 points.

The Longest Drive was hit by Nick Moran for the Men’s competition, and Paula Okell for the Women’s Competition. The Nearest the Pin Competition, courtesy of, was won by Peter Simmons.

We had a surprise guest visit by former PGA professional James McLean. McLean, who has competed with the likes of Tiger Woods, achieved a score of 66 gross but was not on the winning podium, much to the surprise of all the deer who call Hampton Court home!

Star of the stage and screen, Gordon Kennedy, provided the evening’s entertainment through his humorous speech and tales of his run-in with the deer. Kennedy, who has recently played Little John in the BBC series Robin Hood, stayed true to character by getting as much money as he could as auctioneer to give to the children of the Peter Jones Foundation.

A huge thank you goes to Grant Thornton, the sponsor of the series of Enterprise Challenges in aid of the National Enterprise Academy, which is part of the Peter Jones Foundation. We would also like to thank and Hampton Court Golf Club for their support and assistance in putting on a hugely successful day!
