Jessops, the iconic UK photography retailer, re-opened its doors on Thursday 28 March 2013 after a vote of confidence from Dragons’ Den entrepreneur Peter Jones CBE.
In a major comeback, Jones launched six stores over the Easter weekend, then up to 30 during the year, at the rate of one a week.
Today, Jessops has retained its Number One status as Britain’s leading Specialist Imaging Retailer. This follows a multi-million pound investment in revitalising the iconic brand, with flagship outlets including Oxford Street and Birmingham, the largest photographic imaging store in Europe.
The move by Peter to save Jessops came as a real boost to British retail, and created up to 500 jobs, with Jessops forecasting sales of up to £80m by the end of Year 2. In 2015 the business agreed a major deal with Sainsbury’s to open stores in key Sainsbury locations throughout the UK. The business, is now in its 3rd year and has over 50 stores in the UK with sales exceeding £80m and is profitable for the first time in many years. With a renewed focus on all things imaging, Jessops has a huge opportunity to build and extend its offering, especially in print, academy and other complementary services.Return to Portfolio
